Board of Supervisors to Review Draft Maps with Advisory Redistricting Commission at Joint Meeting
People are invited to testify on the maps during the public hearing
WHAT:
The County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors and the 2021 Advisory Redistricting Commission will hold a joint meeting on Nov. 2 for the Board to review the Commission’s set of draft supervisorial district boundary maps. The community is invited to weigh in on the maps during the public hearing portion of the item. People can also submit written comments by email at [email protected]. A second public hearing will be held on Nov. 16 or Dec. 7, as determined by the Board, to consider any proposed changes to the supervisorial boundaries. The Board must adopt a final map by Dec. 15.

WHY:
The Nov. 2 meeting is the first opportunity for the Board of Supervisors to review the 2021 Advisory Redistricting Commission’s recommendations. Every 10 years, the County of Santa Clara draws new supervisorial district lines based on the updated Census data. For new maps to be drawn that reflect the community, the Advisory Redistricting Commission held several meetings, received hours of public testimony, and reviewed several maps drawn by community members, organizations and commissioners.
