SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The County of Santa Clara Roads and Airports Department will begin a pavement repair and overlay project in mid-October along Almaden Expressway; the work will take place between Blossom Hill Road and Harry Road, in San Jose. The project will create a smoother road with better drainage and pedestrian improvements, including repairs to sidewalks and upgrade of curb ramps. Road work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2021, weather permitting.
Traffic will be affected during the road construction: two of the three lanes will close temporarily in one direction at a time, as road crews repair and repave Almaden Expressway. Motorists should expect delays and plan their travel accordingly.
To minimize traffic delays, crews will work in the off-peak direction during the day and, whenever possible, at night.
Detour signs and electronic messages will be set up daily along the project route to give advance warning to drivers. Access to local streets and businesses will remain open with some temporary delays during expressway lane closures and construction work.
We appreciate motorists' understanding and patience.
