Repairs will start on Thursday, April 28 and run through early August
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.— Next week, the County of Santa Clara Roads and Airports Department will start a pavement rehabilitation project along Montague Expressway that will affect traffic between Interstate 880 and East Trimble Road in Milpitas and North San José. The project will also provide pedestrian and traffic signal improvements.
Once completed, expressway users and area residents will enjoy smoother road with improved drainage, new signage, new vehicle and bicycle detector loops, as well as pedestrian improvements of sidewalks and curb ramps, ADA-compliant sensors and touchless pedestrian crosswalk buttons.
During the construction on the expressway, two of the three lanes in each direction will be impacted. Motorists should expect delays and plan their travel accordingly. Work will begin on Thursday, April 28 with lane closures in both directions expected through early August. To minimize the impact, crews will work in the off-peak direction and during nights, whenever possible.
Start construction – April 28, 2022
Project completion – early August 2022 (weather permitting)
Detour signs and electronic message boards will be set up daily along the project route to give advance warning to drivers. Access to local streets and businesses will remain open with some temporary construction delays when work is active. Motorists’ understanding and patience are greatly appreciated.
