County of Santa Clara Moves Forward with Commission Hearings that Will Review Stanford University’s General Use Permit Application

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.— The County of Santa Clara Planning and Development Department has scheduled a series of Planning Commission Hearings to review Stanford University’s General Use Permit (GUP) application in which it seeks authorization for 3.5 million square feet of development. It is the largest development application in the County’s history.

County Planning and Development is issuing the Staff Report, the Community Plan (policy document) Amendments, the Conditions of Approval, and the related Findings on or before May 23, 2019 in preparation for the First Hearing at the Planning Commission on May 30 in Palo Alto.

As the process for the GUP application proceeds, the County remains committed to ensuring that the proposed Project will create affordable housing, preserve open space, and avoid worsening traffic congestion.

The Hearings will be public forums for all community stakeholders to submit input and provide comments on the GUP application and staff’s recommendations. The public is encouraged to participate at all of the hearings. The first hearing will be in the evening in Palo Alto to ensure public participation.
