County of Santa Clara Office of Supportive Housing Announces Inclement Weather Episode #6 for the Season
Additional shelter beds available February 12 - 16
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. - The Office of Supportive Housing announced the 6th Inclement Weather Episode so far this year for the south county region. Due to weather conditions, additional beds will be available in shelters starting Monday, February 12th, through Friday, February 16th.
Additional shelter beds and daytime warming centers will be available as follows:
- South Santa Clara County, which includes Morgan Hill and Gilroy, starting the evening of Monday, February 12, through the morning of Friday, February 16.
- Entire Santa Clara County area starting the evening of Wednesday, February 14 through the morning of Friday, February 16, due to the thresholds being met for declaration.
During declared Inclement Weather Episodes, up to 192 additional beds will be available at: Bill Wilson Center, City Team Ministries, HomeFirst’s Boccardo Reception Center, the Gilroy Armory, LifeMoves Georgia Travis House, Montgomery Street Inn and Project WeHOPE.

ABOUT INCLEMENT WEATHER EPISODES
During extreme cold temperatures, the County’s Office of Supportive Housing activates the Inclement Weather Plan which supplements the regular, ongoing cold weather shelter program. In December 2017, the County’s Office of Supportive Housing raised by several degrees the trigger temperatures for an inclement weather episode from previous seasons.
The current trigger conditions are as follows:
- There is a forecasted overnight low of 40 degrees (previously 38 degrees) or lower with a probability of rain of less than 50%; or,
- There is a forecasted overnight low of 45 degrees (previously 42 degrees) or lower with a probability of rain of 50% or greater.
