Youth Voices of Change
The Santa Clara County Youth Task Force is a representative body of 16 eighth—through 12th-grade students. Its mission is to provide an opportunity for youth to have a formal role and voice in the local decision-making and policies of government agencies, such as the Board of Supervisors and community organizations, on matters related to youth.
County of Santa Clara Cosponsors Bill Aimed at Helping Youth Get Needed Mental Health Services
A bill recently cosponsored by the County of Santa Clara aims to help the county’s children and young adults access any behavioral health services they may need by requiring an automatic review of any provider denials of care for mental health disorders among youth aged 26 and under.
Children’s Budget Includes Increased Funding for Fiscal Year 2023-24
Despite a challenging fiscal year, the County of Santa Clara increased funding for programs supporting children, youth, and families, and the recently released annual Children’s Budget highlights some new key areas of interest: a School-Based Wellness Center Grant Program, a Childcare Expansion Grant Program, and a Homelessness Prevention System.
Developers Break Ground on New Community Center for Foster Youth in Santa Clara County
The new Hub will occupy the first floor of a five-story building in San José. Parkmoor Community Apartments will comprise the upper floors, featuring a range of affordable rental housing units, including 40 apartments for youth who are transitioning out of foster care.

In effort to assist youth in need, the County of Santa Clara's Department of Family and Children's Services implemented a state program, the Resource Family Approval Program, to provide a much-needed home for those individuals. The program also allows for emergency placements with relatives and unrelated extended family members.

The County’s Department of Child Support Services was recognized for its tremendous efforts to overcome formidable barriers and reinvent itself, winning the 2023 Outstanding Program of the Year award from the Child Support Directors Association at its annual conference.
